RISE Up – Part of the 2030 Public Health Toolkit

In a world where demand on health and education services is growing faster than resources can keep up, it’s time for us to ask a bold question:

What if schools were the frontline of the nation's wellbeing system?

Not just for literacy or numeracy.

But for emotional safety.

For trauma recovery.

For movement as medicine.

For early intervention before crisis takes hold.

That’s the vision behind RISE Up—and why we believe it’s time to position it not just as an education programme, but as a core part of the 2030 Public Health Toolkit.

🧠 Why Public Health Needs Schools

The evidence is clear:

  • Mental health challenges among young people are rising

  • CAMHS and social care services are overstretched

  • Physical activity levels are falling, especially in the most deprived communities

  • And preventative health is no longer a ‘nice to have’—it’s essential

Schools are where children spend most of their waking hours.

Educators can be trusted adults who can notice subtle changes.

Movement, play, and connection are the ingredients that heal and protect.

So let’s stop treating education and health as separate silos—and start using trauma-informed, movement-based interventions that meet young people where they are.

💪 What RISE Up Offers

RISE Up is a trauma-informed, movement-based, early intervention wellbeing programme built by educators, for educators.

It’s built around four pillars proven to improve mental fitness and reduce anxiety:

  • Outstanding Relationships

  • Movement for Mental Wellbeing

  • Play Wrapped in Care

  • Self-Care Wellbeing Toolkits

Through our educator training programmes, editable resources, and ongoing coaching support, we help schools create bespoke wellbeing strategies that meet the needs of their communities.

It’s not one-size-fits-all.

It’s not a sticking plaster.

It’s not top-down.

It’s a practical, evidence-informed way to close the wellbeing gap, school by school, child by child.

🌍 Aligning with National Priorities

The recent Sport England Horizon Scanning Report (2025) makes one thing clear:

Health, equity, and place-based approaches are shaping the future.

RISE Up delivers on all three.

Health – by focusing on early intervention and reducing the need for specialist services

Equity – by targeting those most affected by trauma, poverty, and exclusion

Place – by anchoring wellbeing in schools as local community hubs, within a 15-minute walk for most families

We’re not waiting for the system to fix itself. We’re co-creating the next chapter—with schools, not to them.

🧩 But Isn’t This the Job of Health Services?

Some might ask: isn’t this the job of CAMHS? Of social care? Of public health?

Yes—and no.

The reality is, they’re overwhelmed.

The system isn’t set up to reach every child before things escalate.

RISE Up isn’t about replacing clinical support.

It’s about building a preventative frontline—in the very spaces where children spend their days.

It’s about educators having the tools to respond with care, not punishment.

It’s about children knowing they’re safe, seen, and supported—before they fall through the cracks.

This is not a luxury. It’s a necessity.

🔮 The Vision: A National Network of Wellbeing Schools

By 2030, imagine this:

  • Every child having access to a trauma-informed adult in school

  • Every educator trained to understand the impact of ACEs and how to respond with empathy, not exclusion

  • Every school using movement, belonging, and voice as key wellbeing tools

  • Every local authority seeing improved attendance, behaviour, and mental health—and reduced pressure on services

This isn’t a dream. It’s already happening in Norfolk, Liverpool, Wirral, Manchester, Devon, Oxfordshire and beyond.

We’re building the momentum—and the partnerships—to scale what works.
