Last week, the World Teacher Games brought together passionate educators from 25 countries in the beautiful coastal city of Toulon, France.
It was a privilege to lead sessions on Inclusive PE, sharing Future Action’s Trauma Informed PE and RISE Up Early Intervention Mental Wellbeing programmes with a truly global community.
These workshops weren’t just about theory—they were about practice, about heart, and about hope.
We explored how PE can become a sanctuary for young people suffering the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences, and how we can reframe physical education to be personally relevant and emotionally restorative for those who have previously felt left behind.
What We Heard and Shared
Conversations throughout the week centred on movement for mental wellbeing, emotional regulation, and a deep sense of belonging—three pillars we believe are foundational to the future of education.
Whether it was with educators from Brazil and Angola (shout out to Robson for the brilliant Portuguese translation!), or colleagues from across Europe, Asia, and Africa, the message was the same: the world is ready for a more human-centred, trauma-informed approach to PE.
What’s Working Around the World
Across the week, we shared what’s working:
🔸 Using movement to calm the amygdala and widen the window of tolerance
🔸 Helping children develop emotional intelligence through self-care toolkits
🔸 Embedding play wrapped in care to build trust and connection
🔸 Reigniting PE as a place of safety and relevance for every young person
This isn’t a standalone initiative—it’s a growing movement.
From Toulon to the World
Imagine this...
A global community of trauma-informed PE practitioners.
Supporting young people to build emotional intelligence through movement.
Helping children regulate their nervous systems and connect through inclusive activity.
That’s not a dream—that’s what we’re building right now, across four continents and counting.
I left Toulon with a deep sense of solidarity and purpose.
Huge thanks to Ben Holden, Romain Fermon, and the entire World Teacher Games team for curating such a meaningful experience. These kinds of spaces don’t happen by accident—they are shaped by vision and crafted with care.
