Last week marked Future Action's 6th birthday. This week, we have a podcast for you as a present.
Behaviour, attendance, engagement and wellbeing remain significant challenges for many schools.
What role can movement and relationships play in helping young people feel safe, connected and ready to learn?
In this episode of Trauma Informed Conversations, I was delighted to join the brilliant Jessica Parker for a conversation about practical trauma-informed strategies that can help educators create safer, more connected environments where children and young people are better able to regulate, learn and thrive.
Drawing on examples from schools including Ravenscote Junior School in Surrey and Bure Park Specialist Academy in Norfolk, we explore how movement, relationships and belonging can transform outcomes for young people.
What You'll Gain From This Episode
💛 Why psychological safety is the foundation for learning and wellbeing
🧠 How understanding a young person's story can transform behaviour support
🏃 The RISE framework and how movement can help regulate emotions and widen a young person's window of tolerance
🤝 The importance of balancing nurture and structure rather than seeing them as opposites
💪 Practical strategies schools are using to build belonging, emotional regulation and lifelong self-care skills
We also discuss real examples of schools that have embedded trauma-informed practice, demonstrating the power of combining strong relationships, movement and emotionally available adults to help young people feel safer, more connected and ready to learn.
A huge thank you to Jessica Parker and the team at Trauma Informed Consultancy Services for creating space for these important conversations.
We're excited to share that Trauma Informed Consultancy Services (TICS) have become one of our trusted partners. Both organisations share a passion for helping educators create safer, more connected environments where children and young people can flourish, and we look forward to collaborating together moving forward.
As we look ahead to the 2026/27 academic year, if you're thinking about how movement, relationships and trauma-informed practice could support your behaviour, attendance or wellbeing priorities, we'd love to help you get there. Get in touch, or take the first step below.

Thank You
Today, we're feeling incredibly grateful. Six years ago, Future Action began with a simple mission: to empower educators to transform children's life chances and mental wellbeing through relationships, movement and self-care toolkits.
Since then, we've been fortunate to partner with 300+ schools and thousands of incredible educators across the world.
A huge thank you to every educator, school, virtual school, public health team, school sport partnership, funder, partner organisation, volunteer, friend and supporter who has helped make this mission possible.
Thank you for welcoming us into your communities, sharing ideas, and partnering alongside us to help children feel safe, connected, valued and able to thrive.
We love serving you and feel incredibly excited about what we can achieve together in the future.
Thank you for everything you do for your young people, and for being part of the journey. Have a brilliant week.
