Growing Our Global RISE Up Movement in Asia and Australia

After two brilliant weeks travelling across Singapore, Malaysia and Australia, I’m heading home feeling energised, inspired, and hugely grateful.

Everywhere we went, Richard Stockings and I met educators who care deeply about helping young people feel safe, confident, and able to perform under pressure — in sport, in school, and beyond.

ree

This trip felt like a real step forward in the global RISE Up movement.

Each stop brought its own stories, reflections and momentum — and together, they paint an exciting picture of what’s possible in 2026 and beyond.

Why This Trip Mattered

Across all three countries, one theme came up again and again:

Young people can only perform under pressure when they feel psychologically safe.

Whether it was teachers in Singapore, parents in Kuala Lumpur, or colleagues in Perth, everyone recognised the same need — practical, relational strategies that help students stay regulated, brave, and ready to step into challenge.

ree

This trip brought that work to life in a powerful way.

The Alice Smith School — A Whole-Community Approach

Our three days at The Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur were a real highlight. What stood out wasn’t just the energy — it was how joined up their approach has become.

Across both primary and secondary campuses, we worked with:

  • students exploring their containers of safety

  • teachers embedding psychological safety into lessons

  • parents learning how to support performance under pressure at home

  • leadership teams shaping long-term vision

ree

It was a wonderful example of a whole-school commitment to helping young people thrive.

🎙️ A New Podcast Recorded On Campus

While there, Richard and I recorded a brand-new Pod on Purpose episode — diving into how Beyond The Game is helping students widen their window of tolerance, build confidence under pressure, and transfer those strategies into everyday life.

Alice Smith continues to be an inspiring example of what’s possible when psychological safety becomes a shared language across a whole community.

Singapore – Educators From Across Asia Stepping Up

PHASE AP in Singapore brought together teachers from across Asia — and the conversations here were some of the most exciting of the entire trip.

ree

During our Beyond The Game session, teachers explored movement, regulation, and the role of polyvagal-informed strategies in helping students perform under pressure. The openness in the room, and the appetite to shift practice, was brilliant.

ree

Since returning, we’ve had strong interest from international schools across Asia who want follow-up training during our next visit in Feb/March 2026. Do get in touch here if you would like to be part of it.

ree

It really feels like the beginning of a wider Asian RISE Up community forming.

Australia – A Brilliant Audience & a Wave of

Momentum

Perth was absolutely superb. The audience at the ACHPER Western Australia State PE Conference were warm, thoughtful, and brilliant fun.

We moved together, discussed Trauma-Informed PE, and even squeezed in some Ashes chat — all part of the magic of the day.

ree

The response afterwards was incredible:

👉 16 Australian schools expressed interest in piloting an Australia RISE Up programme.

It didn’t surprise me — the appetite in the room was clear — but it was still awesome to see that level of take-up.

There is a real desire across Australia for approaches that weave psychological safety, movement and relational practice into PE.

This could grow into something very special. Watch this space.

A Global Movement Gathering Pace 💛

With over 300 schools across five continents now part of the wider RISE Up community, this trip reinforced what we are seeing everywhere:

  • psychological safety is becoming a central need

  • teachers want practical tools for regulation and performance

  • parents want to help their children without adding pressure

  • schools want approaches that match their context

RISE Up continues to resonate because it isn’t one-size-fits-all.

It’s shaped with each school, for each school — and that’s what gives it power.
