AfPE Conference, PE in Crisis, and Feeling Grateful.

This is the final blog for 2021, we want to thank all you hero teachers for your efforts in this unpredictable school year and wish you a relaxing holiday, as schools start to break up.

Association for Physical Education (afPE) Conference

Our founder Neil Moggan, presented a workshop on Introducing Building Mental Fitness at the afPE national conference at St George's Park this week.

We have had a great response to the Building Mental Fitness session.

It was great to connect, present, discuss and debate the future of PE with so many inspirational colleagues. It has been fantastic to see more and more schools sign up to our Building Mental Fitness Programme since the conference to transform their students wellbeing.

Why not book a call so Neil can talk you through the workshop and discuss your schools needs. Click here to book a convenient time for you.

Once again, we see another news article detailing the decline in our students mental health at this challenging time. We know that waiting times for our young people to access support services such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) are painfully slow, with demand having never been higher, due to Covid and the pressures of social media.

As teachers and parents, it is incredibly difficult to watch our young people suffering while they wait for the support they deserve.

Innovative schools are using our '9 Step Building Mental Fitness Roadmap' to build early intervention proactive wellbeing programmes for students within their PE departments. They are giving their students a toolbox of self care strategies to reduce the chances of young people suffering from anxiety and depression and get them feeling confident and happier instead.

Please reach out to us if you need support to create your programme. For a great example of how Hethersett Academy have done exactly this using our Building Mental Fitness Programme, click here.

Is PE in Crisis?

Looking for a last minute Christmas present for the PE teacher in your life, then we strongly recommend Lee Sullivan’s 'Is PE in Crisis’ & check out his 'Concept Curriculum' from PE Scholar.

Here at Future Action, we share Lee’s vision for Physical Education. PE is so much more than performing skills and if you love what we do, you will love Lee's work and vica versa.

Feeling Grateful:

Expressing gratitude is a big part of what we do to practice mindfulness and spread happiness.

We want to say a big thank you to all our partner schools, school sport partnerships and alliances. They enable us to keep our mission going, so we can ‘provide early intervention, wellbeing support to as many young people as possible through the power of PE’.

As we come to the end of the year, we are grateful for how vibrant the PE community is and for the many people like you and your organisations that have supported Future Action, as we continue to emerge as the go to programme to support young people’s wellbeing in PE and across the wider school.

Why not check out some of these great organisations that we have loved collaborating with this year:

Future Action has got incredibly exciting plans for 2022 as we continue to refine and improve our '9 Step Building Mental Fitness Roadmap'. You can be assured that we will continue to work relentlessly to guide you, so you can transform your students wellbeing, and provide outstanding value for you and your school.

Thanks again for everything you do for your young people, have a relaxing Christmas and a fantastic 2022.

Best wishes

Neil & the Future Action team
